Self Catering Holiday Cottage

Groton Manor Farm is set within three and a half acres of its own gardens and paddocks and has woodland to the west of the property. We have recently converted the old farm buildings, a former piggery, cattle shed and stables into a unique living space with its own separate driveway providing complete privacy. However, if you have any questions or require any local information we can always be called upon as we are next door.

The farm is set back off the country lane that leads to Hadleigh and Kersey. It is located on the South Suffolk Cycle Route so you can explore the surrounding villages and hamlets of Groton, Boxford, Kersey, Edwardstone, Chelsworth, Lindsey, Lavenham, Stoke-By-Nayland and Polstead without having to use your car. As the countryside is gently undulating the cycling is suitable for guests of all ages and fitness levels and the roads are fairly quiet, so children can also enjoy the fun. For very young children (under 4) the owners have a Burley cycle trailer which can accommodate two youngsters and provides a great way for them to have a nap while mum or dad explore the countryside.

The accommodation is particularly child friendly and ideal if you are looking for a family holiday. There are no hard floors or stairs where they can hurt themselves. The owners also have their own heated out-door swimming pool (open during the summer months) which they are happy for guests to use providing it is in operation and that guests do not mind sharing it when the owners or their friends are using it. The swimming pool is fenced off for safety reasons, as are the ponds and there are some chickens, the small family dog Beryl and the owners pony Popcorn and old horse Tubby.

Locally, the area is a haven for wildlife from the moorhens and wild ducks on the pond, to the rabbits, deer and House Martens that visit in the summer.

If you are looking to escape the pressures of every day life; want to spend quality time with the children or would like to go out for dinner with or without the children (babysitters can be recommended), this is the ideal place. If you are child free you can enjoy the privacy of the location, and the many places to visit in the surrounding area.

Long Melford is great for antiques and has some interesting fashion shops. Lavenham offers a variety of interesting independent shops and it has a beautiful old Guildhall to visit in the old market square. Hadleigh is worth a visit with its good local butchers, deli with French and Italian produce, farm shop and the Adnams Shop which offers great wine & beer as well as interesting cookware. Throughout the area there are many places to visit or events to enjoy in the local villages.

There is a good selection of local restaurants and pubs or you may want to stay in and prepare your own supper in the barns great kitchen with some lovely local produce.
